Senior Reinsurance Technician

City of London Up to £80,000

This City-based Lloyd’s and company market business has a strong name and an inclusive, collaborative culture. They’re now looking for a Senior Ceded Reinsurance Technician to join the team in a senior capacity. You’ll be the go-to for all things post-placement, helping to shape and drive process improvements and supporting wider transformation.

You’ll be part of a lean and agile team. This is a hands-on role, but it also involves bringing ideas to the table, taking ownership of workstreams, and helping mentor others.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage end-to-end post-placement ceded reinsurance administration: bordereaux, M&D premiums, quota share statements, and premium adjustments

• Prepare and issue reinsurance statements and recoveries, including Excess of Loss.

• Calculate and process technical accounts, portfolio transfers, and profit commissions.

• Act as subject matter expert across ceded reinsurance operations, supporting underwriting, finance, and actuarial teams

• Contribute to reinsurance purchasing processes, including preparing quote schedules and liaising on wording reviews.

• Support credit control and reconciliation activities related to reinsurance recoveries.

• Drive forward process improvement and automation initiatives

• Assist in evaluating programme performance and effectiveness with meaningful reporting and insight.

• Work closely with systems and operations colleagues to improve controls, data quality, and reporting accuracy

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in  reinsurance operations within the London or company market

• Strong understanding of both proportional and non-proportional treaty business

• Proven background working with live business (not just run-off)

• Experience mentoring or guiding junior colleagues and improving team output

• Advanced Excel skills

• Confident in working across departments and presenting technical information clearly

• Familiarity with reinsurance calculation tools is a plus

• A natural eye for improving processes and optimising workflows
